Silver Plated Eye Shields

Eye Shields protect the patient’s eye lens during radiation treatments. A complete set consists of (4) pair: small, medium, large and extra large (with windows). The 1/16” thick Eye Shields (with handle) are fabricated of virgin lead and are silver plated for life long protection.

The small and medium solid lead cups fit under the eyelid to protect the eye lens, while permitting irradiation of the entire thickness and width of the lids in the treatment of superficial basal cell carcinomas of the skin.

When only a portion of the lid requires irradiation, an extra large cup with a window is properly placed over the lid. Large solid lead cups are placed over the eyelid when areas surrounding the eyes require irradiation. Eye shields are not autoclavable (use gas).

A dental wax can be used to give a smooth surface layer to the silver plated lead eye shield to prevent scratching or irritation to the eyeball and to reduce electron scatter.
