Both BOLX-I and BOLX-II conform well to most human surface contours without significant changes in thickness. BOLX-I is encased in a layer of thin plastic skin and can be used time and again.

Skinless BOLX-II is meant for single patient use. It is somewhat better in conforming to body surface irregularities because it is self-adhering and can be used for stacking to a desired thickness. Both types of BOLX are tissue equivalent and have a low level of flammability. They are flexible, transparent, durable, non-toxic and non-allergenic.
