- Flexibility of Flood Source provides for easy storage
- Lightweight - source and shield for standard
gamma camera together weigh less than 20 lb
- flood source alone weighs just 3 lb!
- Source and shield for cardiac specialty cameras
weigh less than 18 lb - flood source alone weighs
under 1.5 lb!
- Tungsten composite storage case offers best
radiation protection available
- Compact size and higher attenuation of shield
permits storage in the vicinity of your camera
- Fits all round and rectangular cameras
The unique Perflexion Flood Source breaks all the rules for flood sources. This flexible source easily rolls up for convenient storage and transport in its tungsten composite storage case. Lightweight and easy to carry, a standard gamma camera Perflexion Flood Source collapses to fit in
a 6” x 6” x 22” shielded tube. The source itself weighs less than 3 lb. and its shielded case weighs less than 17 lb.
The exclusive tungsten composite shield offers the highest level of shielding on the market. The 17 pound case stops >99%
of radiation, resulting in a typical 0.7
mR/hr surface measurement from a 10
mCi source. This is 5-10 times lower
than a typical lead lined case.
The Perflexion source uses proprietary Cobalt chemistry in the manufacturing process for superior source uniformity,
low Co-56 and
Co-58 impurities and no measurable
Co-60. Made of an ultra-
rugged urethane polymer, Perflexion passed extensive testing, including 1 Mrad
irradiation and 1500 roll/unroll cycles with no cracking, damage or wear.
Perflexion’s unique carbon fiber backing matrix means you can calibrate dual-head cameras easily. Also, its superior shielding and compact size allows you to store Perflexion in your camera lab.
One expired source may be returned at no additional charge when a similar product is purchased. Additional sources may be returned for a nominal fee.

Perflexion Flood Sources for
Cardiac Cameras
Like the Perflexion Flood Source for a standard gamma camera, these flood sources have essentially no edges that extend beyond the radioactive area. This is important for all fixed 90° cameras where the detectors nearly touch at the fixed angle. Edges on a standard flood source hold the active area at or just above the edge of the detector leading to possible low counts or “shine back” at the edge next to the angle. Having almost no edge, Perflexion eliminates this problem.
The Perflexion Flood Sources for cardiac specialty cameras have a smaller active area which means twice the activity per square inch compared to a standard Flood Source. In most cases, you only need order a 7.5 mCi source rather than a 10 mCi source.
The 10 lb tungsten storage case stops >99% of radiation, resulting in a less than 1.0 mR/hr surface measurement from a 10 mCi source. The Perflexion Flood Source without its case weighs just under 1.5 lb.
