Designed by JRT, the Integrated PET
L-Block Shield allows the combination of the PET L-Block Shield and a remote dose calibrator ionization chamber. The dose
calibrator chamber is inserted up through a cutout in the base of the shield, 10” behind the vertical front lead panel. The technologist can draw, adjust, and measure a dose without removing the activity from the protection of the L-Shield. This system requires that a hole be cut in the counter top to accept the dose calibrator chamber. A shelf must also be located beneath the hole. A 1” thick lead drop-down shield hangs in front of the chamber (both above and below the
counter top) to provide additional radiation protection. This may eliminate the need
for ionization chamber lead rings.
The L-Shield is shipped in modular components - no one component weighs over 50 pounds. Easy assembly is described in the accompanying instruction manual.
