Data Spectrum Phantom Inserts and Accessories

Phantom Inserts and Accessories for Data Spectrum Phantoms:

Triple Line Insert

Triple Line Insert

  • Center-of-rotation error
  • Evaluation of changes of radius-of-rotation on spatial resolution
  • Spatial resolution measurement in air and in water
  • Quantitative evaluation of reconstruction filters & scatter compensation

This Insert is used to produce three 1 mm diameter parallel lines of tracer material spaced 7.5 cm apart (based on the recommendations in the NEMA Standard Publication for Performance Measurements of Scintillation Cameras, 1986.)

Radioactive tracer liquid is introduced into the line sources through surgical grade, stainless steel valves at the ends of the line tube. The cylinder can be filled with water to simulate surrounding attenuating medium. Quantitative measurements of on-axis and off-axis reconstructed line source resolutions can be performed in air by placing the triple line insert on the scanning bed.

Using the insert, the influence of the type of reconstruction filter on SPECT spatial resolution measurements can be evaluated. It can be used with the Ultra Deluxe, Deluxe and Standard SPECT Phantom, ACR SPECT Phantom, and Lung-Spine Phantom.

Hollow Sphere Inserts

Hollow Sphere Inserts

• Simulates hot and cold spherical “lesions”
• Quantitative evaluation of spatial resolution/object size, attenuation and scatter effects
• Evaluation of quantitative reconstruction methods

Hollow Sphere Inserts (six) may be individually filled with a user selected concentration of tracer and mounted within the SPECT Phantom cylinder in place of the solid spheres supplied with the phantom. It is then possible to investigate SPECT image performance in detail using “hot” spheres. The sphere set has a logarithmic volume progression. Each sphere has twice the volume of the next smaller sphere. Inside diameters of the spheres are 9.9 mm, 12.4 mm, 15.6 mm, 19.7 mm, 24.8 mm, and 31.2 mm. Volumes of the spheres are 0.5 ml, 1.0 ml., 2.0 ml, 4.0 ml, 8.0 ml, and 16.0 ml.

Hollow Spheres may be either mounted alone within the cylinder or used simultaneously with either the Cold Rod or Hot Spot Insert. Insert can be used with Ultra Deluxe, Deluxe and Standard SPECT Phantoms, ACR SPECT Phantom, Elliptical Phantom and Lung-Spine Phantom.

Micro Hollow Sphere Inserts

Micro-Hollow Sphere Inserts

Similar to the Hollow Sphere Inserts, the Micro Hollow Sphere Inserts (four) are smaller. Each sphere has twice the volume of the next smaller sphere. Inside diameter of the spheres are 3.9, 4.9, 6.2 and 7.8 mm. Volumes of the spheres are 0.031, 0.063, 0.125 and 0.25 ml. Hollow Spheres may be mounted alone within the cylinder or used simultaneously with either the Cold Rod or Hot Spot Insert. Insert can be used with Ultra Deluxe, Deluxe and Standard SPECT Phantoms, ACR SPECT Phantom, Elliptical Phantom and Lung-Spine Phantom.

Cardiac Insert

Cardiac Inserts

  • Evaluates cardiac ECT data
  • Evaluation of attenuation and scatter
  • Simulates normal and abnormal myocardial uptake
  • Solid inserts simulate transmural and non-transmural cold abnormalities
  • Fillable inserts simulate transmural and non-transmural cold or hot abnormalities

This insert provides a multi-function simulation of the left ventricle and can be used to evaluate SPECT imaging of cold defects within the “myocardium.” Two solid acrylic sectors (45º and 60º) are supplied with the insert, each 1 cm thick and 2 cm long. These non-filling defects may be placed at various positions within the “ventricle wall”, either anteriorly or posteriorly. The long axis of the “ventricle” is adjustable from 30º - 60º from the long axis of the cylinder. Four fillable defects are also included.

Can be used with Ultra Deluxe, Deluxe and Standard SPECT Phantom, ACR SPECT Phantom, Elliptical Phantom, Lung-Spine Phantom, and Anthropromorphic Torso Phantom.
