QA BeamChecker Plus for Linac and Rotational QA

The QA BeamChecker Plus is a reliable and uncomplicated daily QA instrument for linear accelerators and TomoTherapy® systems. With wire-free technology, integrated build-up, and automatic energy detection, radiation therapists can quickly and easily perform daily QA.

PATENTED WIRE-FREE MODE
Wire-Free mode displays a pass/fail indication for each energy via a large, brightly lit display, clearly visible from the patient monitor. Unlike some devices, you do not have to control the QA BeamChecker Plus from the PC, allowing for a wire and software-free solution right out of the box. No cables mean less clutter in the accelerator room, no cable replacement costs, and a safer work environment … no accidental tripping or pulling the instrument off the couch.

AUTOMATIC ENERGY DETECTION AND RESET
When the beam is delivered, the QA BeamChecker Plus automatically begins measurement while simultaneously applying temperature and pressure correction, detecting the energy type, and determining beam constancy, flatness, and symmetry. Once complete, the data is saved for later review, and the instrument re-arms itself within 10 seconds for the next energy.

TOMOTHERAPY QA CAPABILITY
The QA BeamChecker Plus allows radiation therapists to quickly perform daily QA tests recommended by Fenwick et al., 20041 for helical TomoTherapy® systems. A static field exposure provides output constancy, energy constancy, and lateral profile constancy QA tests, while a dynamic exposure provides a combined dosimetric check from a treatment plan. Daily laser QA tests (with optional leveling platform) are also included.

NEW! ROTATIONAL THERAPY QA Providing a combined dosimetric check, the dynamic 5 channel mode is ideal for rotational testing. By accommodating custom tests for IMAT, VMAT, dynamic wedge, and others, checking and trending daily changes in beam output is now easier than ever. Whether you are considering or have already implemented Varian RapidArc™ Radiotherapy Technology or Elekta VMAT, the QA BeamChecker Plus is ready when you are.

Features and Benefits

Reduce Unnecessary Trips into the Treatment Room

  • Integrated build-up for all supported energies eliminates the need to enter the vault between measurements and minimizes chances of measurement error. With the push of a button and a flip of the device, the QA BeamChecker Plus switches between photon and electron modes. Use the included Power/Data Cradle to ensure your QA BeamChecker Plus is always fully charged. The cradle also connects to an available PC serial port and provides quick, convenient downloading of measurement data.

Real-Time Operation and Physics Modes

  • As measurement occurs, Real-Time Operation Mode displays individual chamber readings along with percentage differences from baseline via software interface
  • Physics Mode allows the QA BeamChecker Plus to be used as a basic array of ion chambers and electrometers for research, experimentation, and other custom applications

Powerful Data Management

  • Approximately one month’s data can be stored to internal memory before transfer to a PC database is required. Once transferred, data can be trended, printed, and/or exported to a spreadsheet application.
  • The QA BeamChecker Plus database can be stored on a network and accessed from any PC with the QA BeamChecker Plus software installed
  • Daily QA for up to 9 treatment rooms can be performed with just one QA BeamChecker Plus

Bluetooth® Wireless Option

  • While complete daily QA checks can be performed with no software or wires using the standard Wire-free mode, the optional Bluetooth Adapter Kit adds wireless communication for PC software functions including baseline and Real-Time operation modes
