For personnel working in radiation areas, Direct Reading Dosimeters provide an accurate and instantan-eous indication of accumulated exposure. Resembling fountain pens in size and appearance, they contain a quartz fiber electrometer and compound microscope. The fiber is set at zero with a battery operated charger. As x-rays or gamma rays strike the charged dosimeter, the fiber moves up scale in proportion to the radiation exposure.

Accurate to 10% of true dose for
Cs-137 or Co-60 gamma. Less than 0.5% leakage of full scale in 24 hours at 50° C. Hermetically sealed.

Dosimeter Charger

The Direct Reading Personal Dosimeter has a built-in string electrometer and ion chamber. The Dosimeter Charger is used to impress a charge on this ion chamber. This compact lightweight charger is designed to charge most direct-reading quartz fiber dosimeters.

Power required for operation is
furnished by a single "D" flashlight type battery, capable of recharging dosimeters thousands of times before replacement is necessary, thus making it an economical and reliable charger to operate. Both moisture-proof and dust-proof, the charger also features a protective cap to prevent any moisture or dust from accumulating in the charging socket when not in use.
